CLOSEUPS OF MOTHERHOOD

VIVIAN & CHANELLE COLEMAN

Chanelle and Vivvi, mother and daughter. During their travels, their careers, and their lives, there is nothing quite like the connection they have. The bond they share is unbreakable.

Chanelle, what’s the biggest thing that Vivvi taught you?
To always stand up for myself and to be with someone who loves me a little bit more because women always tend to give more. To be strong, very independent and stubborn.

How would you describe Vivvi in three words?
Stubborn. Energetic. Beautiful.

Value both mind and body. They go hand in hand. I try my best to set a great example for my children and learn from my mistakes.

-Vivvi Coleman

Vivvi, what was the one thing you wanted to teach your daughter to value?
I wanted Chanelle to value her mind and body. They go hand in hand. I try my best to set a great example for my children and learn from my mistakes.

How do you deal with conflicts with each other?
Chanelle has taught me that I can control my temper. To talk it out, then pause and think about the options we have. Things can always be solved without going from 1-10 in a flash.

What is your strongest childhood memory of Vivian?
It may not be the strongest, but I remember when I traveled to NYC with my mom (Vivvi) and before we went to bed, I discovered that she actually had a few freckles. I started to cry and said, “Now I know where I got them from". I felt connected to her in a way I’ve never felt before.
