Throughout a garment's lifetime, its environmental footprint is greatly influenced by how we wear and wash it. By properly caring for your Understatements, you can extend their lifespan, conserve natural resources, and reduce textile waste. Ready to master the art of garment care? Here’s how you can cherish your darlings for years to come.

Let's get to the basics

First things first: Always read the care label carefully and use a wash bag to protect your garments during the wash cycle. This helps keep the fabric’s elasticity and prevents tearing or snagging during the wash cycles. Trust us, it’s worth the little extra effort.

The best thing to do is to use a gentle detergent. Make sure that it does not contain any bleach, as it can harm the delicate materials of your bras and panties, and make them deteriorate faster.

Let’s face it, you know exactly when it’s time to break up with your bra. Look out for stretched out elastics and overall wear & tear. Trust your gut. We pride ourselves on making products that last, so it’ll be a while before you get to this stage!

Swimwear

With our swimwear, we recommend you to rinse in cold water after swimming and having fun at the beach.

Underwear

Your bras deserve a little break too - keep them on rotation with your other favourites to give the elastics time to readjust. Did you know all our underwear can be washed in the machine at 30°C/86°F? Gentle on your wallet and the environment, win-win! We do not recommend tumble drying or ironing, since the heat breaks down the elastic, causing your underwear to age before it's time.

Period Panties

Our period panties can be washed in the washing machine at 30° degrees. You do not need to pre-rinse the panties, but we do recommend using a wash bag and washing your panties with similar colors. Do not tumble dry, dry clean, or use bleach.
